# Rules of the game
# Preparation
This is a game for two players. One player is Viking, the other is Puppy.
- Shuffle the cards and divide them into two piles, one for each player.
- Place pieces on your side of the board.
Objective
To get all your pieces to the far side before your opponent
# Play
Choose who starts. Move one piece to one of the islands nearest your starting line. The other player does the same with their first piece. After that you can move another piece from your starting line or move a piece from one island to the next. Take turns moving your pieces.
- You can only jump one step along a stream between the islands. You can only move forwards or sideways, not backwards.
- If you land on an island where your opponent already has a piece you have a battle! See the next section for what to do in a battle.
- You can have up to two of your own pieces on an island.
# Battle
Both players pick up the next card from their pile of cards. You should both avoid showing your cards to each other.
You, as the player that just moved, chooses which type of piece from your card to declare. Your opponent looks at their next card. If their card has more of that type they win the battle and you move your piece back to the start line. Then it’s your opponent’s turn to move.
If your card has more, your opponent moves their piece to the start and you have another move.
If there is a draw you battle again.
If you jump to an island where your opponent has two pieces and you jump there then you lose the battle immediately and have to move that piece back to the start. However they then have to move one of those pieces.
If you reach the end of your pile of cards, shuffle them and continue play.
